Thailand prepares for air travel surge during Spring Festival

Thailand is stepping up efforts to ensure the safety and convenience of air travelers during the upcoming Spring Festival across the Southeast Asian country's key international airports, authorities said on Friday.

To provide a seamless travel experience, the Airports of Thailand (AOT) has introduced enhanced services such as technology-driven passenger processing to reduce wait times, dedicated airport assistance staff, multilingual interpreters and Chinese-language signage in shops and restaurants, said AOT President Kerati Kijmanawat.

In collaboration with the Tourist Police Bureau, the AOT has increased the presence of security personnel at its all six major airports and intensified safety inspections. Emergency response teams are also on standby to swiftly address any unforeseen incidents, Kerati told a press conference.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Thailand is preparing for a notable surge in air travel during the Chinese New Year holiday, with an estimated 19,305 domestic and international flights scheduled from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1, representing a 14 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
