随着新学期开学日的临近，需要做些什么行前准备才能确保自己顺利开启在美的大学生活？现在是你提问的机会了！我们邀请了两所美国高等院校的代表，以及两位哈佛大学的校友，给您提供一些帮助。As the new semester start date approaches, what preparations do you need to make to ensure a smooth start to your college life in the United States  Now is your chance to ask!  We’ve invited two representatives from U.S. HEIs, and two alumni of Harvard University to give you some ideas.

本次活动将涵盖以下五个方面的内容：This event will cover the following five parts:

第一部分：准备行程Part One:  Preparing for Your Trip

我们将讨论留学前的关键准备事项，包括必要的文件、行李打包建议以及目的地的基本情况。您将了解大学资源、迎新项目和学生社区等支持途径。We'll cover the key preparations for your study abroad journey, including essential documents, packing tips, and researching your destination.  You'll learn about university resources, orientation programs, and student communities that can support you.

第二部分：文化适应Part Two:  Cultural Adjustments

我们将探讨如何应对文化冲击并适应新环境。您将获得关于如何融入当地社区、利用学生服务以及接受新习俗的建议，以确保顺利过渡并在美国取得成功的留学体验。We'll discuss how to handle cultural shock and adapt to your new environment. You'll get tips on engaging with the local community, utilizing student services, and embracing new customs to ensure a smooth transition and successful experience in the United States.

第三部分：为成功做好准备Part Three:  Prepare for Success

我们将讨论中国留学生所面临的学业和职业挑战与机遇。我们将向大家介绍有效的学习技巧、时间管理策略以及平衡学业与课外活动的方法。此外，我们还将探讨校内资源、学术写作标准以及在全球教育环境中茁壮成长所必需的专业沟通技巧。We’ll address the unique academic and career challenges and opportunities that Chinese students face when studying abroad. This session will cover effective study techniques, time management strategies, and methods to balance academics with extracurricular activities. Additionally, we will explore on-campus resources, academic writing standards, and professional communication skills essential for thriving in a global educational environment.

第四部分：身心健康和安全Part Four:  Health, Wellness and Safety

学生在他们的留学旅程中可能会经历各种情绪 — 从兴奋到偶尔的担忧。我们将通过提供必要的心理洞察力和工具来减轻这些顾虑。通过个人故事和友好指导，与会者将学会为旅程做好心理准备，应对学术挑战，有效沟通自己的需求。我们将重点介绍美国的心理健康和健康资源，探讨安全问题并提供应对策略。Students may experience a mix of emotions – from butterflies to occasional worries in their study abroad journey.  We’ll alleviate these concerns by providing essential psychological insights and tools.  Through personal stories and friendly guidance, attendees will learn to mentally prepare for the journey, navigate academic challenges, and effectively communicate their needs. We'll

spotlight mental health and wellness resources in the United States, discuss safety concerns, and offer strategies.

嘉宾介绍：About the guest speakers:

陈祎铱 – 毕业于哈佛大学教育研究生院，主修人类发展和教育，专注于学校心理咨询专业；她本科毕业于加州大学伯克利分校学习心理学专业。目前她在联合国儿童基金会中国地区的教育团队工作。她曾经担任第14届哈佛中国教育论坛的运营总监，哈佛商学院创新实验室学校心理咨询项目创始人，哈佛大学发展心理学Spelke实验室的实验室助理等。Becky Chen – Graduated from Harvard Graduate School of Education, she majored in Human Development and Education on School Counseling.  She pursued a bachelor’s degree in psychology at UC Berkeley.  Currently, she's working for the UNICEF Education team.  She held the position of Director of Operations at the 14th Harvard China Education Symposium and was a founder of a school counseling project at the Harvard Business School Innovation Lab.  Additionally, she worked as a lab assistant in the Harvard Developmental Psychology Spelke's lab.

胡易欣 – 担任加州大学河滨分校的国际招生官，负责中国区的国际招生工作。高中时期即在加州留学，毕业于加州大学河滨分校，主修戏剧、电影和数字制作。她熟悉加州留学的整体态势，并相信她的背景可以帮助她更好地理解国际学生出行前的焦虑和担忧，她非常期待能够分享自己的经验和知识。Cindy Hu – She is currently an International Recruitment Specialist at University of California, Riverside, responsible for international admissions in China.  She studied in California during high school and graduated from the University of California, Riverside, majoring in Theatre, Film and Digital Production.  She is familiar with the overall situation of studying abroad in California and believes that her background allow her to better understand the anxiety and concerns among international students before departure, and she is looking forward to sharing her experience and knowledge with everyone.  

梁丽川  – 现任美国圣约翰大学中国区招生代表，负责该校在中国的招生工作。毕业于美国圣约翰大学，主修经济学和数学。曾在美国知名投资银行Piper Jaffray工作，参与公司海外上市项目，积累了丰富的金融和国际市场经验。目前也是留学博主。Tony Liang – He is currently serving as the China Admission Representative for the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, overseeing the university's admissions efforts in China.  He graduated from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University with a double major in Economics and Mathematics. He worked at the renowned U.S. investment bank Piper Jaffray, where he participated in international IPO projects, gaining extensive experience in finance and international markets.  He is also an active study abroad blogger now.

斯晏雯 – 现任哈佛教育学院的学习设计师，专注于创造创新、高效、以学生为中心的学习体验。她拥有哈佛教育学院的学习设计科技创新硕士学位，以及塔夫茨大学的心理学与人类发展双学位学士学位。晏雯曾担任第十四届哈佛中国教育论坛主席、Curriculum Associates的课程开发员以及FableVision Studio的多媒体专员。Elva Si – A dedicated learning designer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, specializing in creating innovative, learner-centric, and effective educational experiences. She holds a Master of Education in Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Human Development from Tufts University. She has previously served as President at the 14th Harvard China Education Symposium, Curriculum Developer at Curriculum Associates, and Multimedia Specialist at FableVision Studio.
