个人简介:Andreas “Andy” Bechtolsheim is Chairman, Chief Development Officer and Co-Founder of Arista Networks. Previously, Andy was a Co-Founder and Chief System Architect at Sun Microsystems, responsible for next generation server, storage, and network architectures.

Andy received a M.S. in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1976 and was a doctoral student in Computer Engineering at Stanford University from 1977 to 1982. He has been honored with a Fulbright scholarship, the Stanford Entrepreneur Company of the year award, the Smithsonian Leadership Award for Innovation, the EY 2015 US Entrepreneur of the Year Award (together with Jayshree Ullal) and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

Vincent Zeng

Meta (formerly Facebook)

Supplier Quality Engineer




个人简介:Vincent Zeng is a Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for qualification of optical devices used at Meta's data centers. Prior to Meta/Facebook, Vincent Zeng was the Sr Quality Customer Manager at Brocade for optics and network equipment. He started his optical carrier at JDSU where he produced the first Telcordia Qualified AWG product. Additional to that, he also spent a couple of years at Semiconductor inspection equipment company-KLA Tencor. Vincent holds a doctoral degree in optical physics from Nankai University and Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Physics at Stuttgart.


演讲摘要:Current Data Center’s bandwidth demand and power restriction requires more integrated Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) solution, toward to the Co-packaged Optics (CPO) solution. The backfilled quality target for PIC component demonstrates tremendous challenges to existing design and process for PIC components. To maintain healthy growth, we proposed a strategic approach for qualification of the PIC to reach highly reliable performance. Using a simple model of 51.2T switch as example, we will demonstrate our strategic approaching by splicing complex PIC building block into simple key components and process. With applying detail FMEA spec and qualification requirements to those key components and process, achieving backfilled quality target can be accomplished. These efforts will help the elimination of infant mortality issue widely observed for pluggable optical solution. Additional to that, the deployment of yield management is highly recommended even on the wafer-level fabrication process. More and more automation process especially at wafer level will provide high reliable performance and this can be achieved after these strategic approaches are in place.

个人简介:Dr. Blumenthal is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellow of the IEEE and Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA). He is recipient of a 1999 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), a 1994 National Science Foundation Young Investigator (NYI) Award, and a 1997 Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Program (YIP) Award. He has served on the Board of Directors for National LambdaRail (NLR) and as an elected member of the Internet2 Architecture Advisory Council. Dr. Blumenthal has served as the Guest Editor for the JSTQE Special Issue on Ultra Low Loss Planar Integrated Waveguides and Applications, the JSTQE Special Issue on Ultra-Fast Integrated Photonics, the IEEE JOURNAL OF LIGHTWAVE TECHNOLOGY special issue on Photonic Packet Switching Systems and the IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED AREAS IN COMMUNICATIONS special issue on High-Performance Optical/Electronic Switches/Routers for High-Speed Internet.

Chen Zhu

Senior Optical Network Architect




个人简介:Chen Zhu attained Ph.D degree from University of Melbourne on 2014, and then worked for Nokia Bell Labs, Infinera and Amazon Kuiper on various optical communications projects, currently he is a senior optical network architect in Baidu. Chen has authored and co-authored over 70 journal and conference papers, he was elected as IEEE Photonics Society student fellow on 2014, his research interests include data center optics, metro/long-haul/sub-sea optical transmission systems and space optical free space optical communication.


演讲摘要:We will discuss potential solutions on optically interconnecting 100Tb/s switch systems, between two major presentation forms: pluggable and co-packaged optics, we will be scanning technical challenges on achieving higher lane rate and higher lane counts per module for each form, and describe the key considerations including power, cost and technical feasibility. 


Chongjin Xie

Alibaba Cloud 

Senior Director




个人简介:Chongjin Xie is a senior director at Alibaba Cloud, leading an optical network team working on data center optical interconnects and transport networks. Prior to joining Alibaba in 2014, Dr. Xie was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent, doing research on optical communication systems and networks. He was a post-doctor at Chalmers University of Technology from 1999 to 2001, and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications in 1996 and 1999, respectively. Dr. Xie has published one book, 5 book chapters and over 200 papers, and served as OFC program chair and general chair in 2019 and 2021, respectively. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of OSA.
